It was my privilege to be a part of a most blessed
missionary effort in Cuba. Other team members

Spanish Ministry at Chilhowie Baptist Church in Chilhowie, VA. Jose
(Joe) was born in Cuba and his parents immigrated to the USA when he
was 11 months old. As fluent in Spanish as in English, he served as a
translator for us.
The Cuban government provided us with RELIGIOUS VISAS that per-
mitted us to preach in churches. We were not permitted to distribute
tracts or to pass out flyers announcing our services, or to witness pub-
lically. The pastor of IGLESIA BAUTISTA EL CALVARIO ( Calvary
Baptist Church) in Havana, the largest Baptist Church in western Cuba,
did an outstanding job of preparing for the meetings. He recruited,
housed and trained approximately 150 pastors and lay people who did
the street witnessing. They distributed 30,000 flyers and witnessed to
many hundreds of people before the meetings began.
The government called the pastor (Brother Rojas) and told him to stop
distributing the flyers and to stop the street witnessing. However, the
pastor and the people continued until most of the 50,000 flyers that had
been printed were distributed. God blessed abundantly! Members of
our team preached in a small church for three nights, conducting an
ISRAEL AND END TIME PROPHECY CONFERENCE. 30 people
were saved in those meetings. On Sunday morning, we spoke in 4 differ-
ent, smaller churches and 13 people were saved in those services.
When we met at Calvary Baptist, separate services were conducted for
the children. 73 people were saved in those 3 services. In the services
for the adults, 325 people were saved. In all there were 993 people who
trusted Christ as Savior. Each person was counseled, filled out a
decision card and is now being followed up with literature and personal
contacts.
Praise the Lord! I am grateful to all those who prayed and who gave to
enable me to be a part of the mission. I am especially thankful for the
Lewis Memorial Baptist Church in Huntington WV (Pastor David
Lemming) and The Church of the Open Door in Westminster MD
(Pastor Norris Belcher) for their most generous giving that underwrote
the bulk of the expenses.
PRAY for the converts and for all those doing follow-up. The people of
Havana (2,500,000 souls) are open to the gospel! The field is “white
unto harvest”.
