Opinions - Observations -
Outrages - Article 1
by Dr. Glenn Mathews
This entry has nothing that would approach an outrage. However,
I have listed it, just in case I want to rant and rave at a future date!
OBSERVATION
If buying gold is the “best” investment, why is TV flooded with
beautiful gold tinted advertisements, urging us to invest in gold for
a secure future? It seems to me that if it is that great, the people
promoting the buying of gold would be throwing all their money
into buying it for themselves, instead of just making a commission
on our buying it.
OPINION
Sending your gold rings, earrings, watches, etc. to some body that
you do not know and trusting them to pay you an equitable price
for it is really an unwise thing to do. People, however, apparently
are doing it in great numbers. To me, it is about as dumb as
sending a “seed faith offering” to some televangelist. You know
the spiel: “Send me $100.00 and God will send you $1,000. For
every zero you add, God will likewise add a zero. So if you send
$100,000, God will give you ONE MILLION DOLLARS.
People actually fall for such nonsense. If that fellow or lady on
TV who is needing the money to “stay on the air”, really believes
in "seed faith giving", let them send me the “seed faith” money
and then let God add another zero to it. In fact, I could use a
BIG SEED OFFERING and use it in the ministry of Revival
Crusade.
OBSERVATION AND OPINION
Glenn Beck has eclipsed Rush Limbaugh and Sean Hannity!
Years ago, Rush had his “Rush to Excellence Tours”. Hannity
just concluded 8 different rallies of his own. Beck drew hundreds
of thousands to D. C. for his 8/28 rally. The media has been
calling it a revival. While I am glad to see the apparent heart-felt
response to his rallying call by so many hundreds of thousands of
people, I do have reservations about it. From the parts I saw
(which was minimal) and from what I have read (which was
considerable), my concerns should be discussed by people whose
audience and influence is far greater than mine. Yes, I am glad
that Beck “cleaned up his life”. I am glad that he has “seen the
truth”, as he puts it. However you analyze it, what 8/28 was, was
NOT A REVIVAL in the Biblical sense of the word. Beck is a
member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints
(Mormonism) A cult that originally, under Joseph Smith and
Brigham Young, stated that they were NOT another Christian
Church. Now, their elders are presenting CJCLDS as just another
Christian group. According to their teaching, the New Testament
was/is not sufficient and thus we have THE BOOK OF
MORMON, “another testimony of Jesus”. The CJCLDS still
believes and teaches that Jesus and Lucifer (Satan, Devil) were
and are brothers. The Book of Mormon and other CJCLDS
writings teach many “truths” totally contrary to the Holy Bible.
The god of Mormonism is NOT the God of the Holy Bible. The
Mormon Elders (you know them as the fellows that ride the
bicycles) are not christians in the New Testament sense of the
Word.
Conclusion: God help us all if a Mormon is the “new leader” of
Christianity in the USA.
